  • Also known as Palmoxylon.  An extinct genus of palm found around the world.
  • The plants lived from the Late Cretaceous (83 ma) until the Early Miocene (34 ma).
  • The spotted look is caused by fossilized rod-like structures within the original wood.
  • The stone is 1 1/4 inch x 7/8 inch.  The crown depth is 3/8 inch. 
  • Cabochon is hand-cut and polished.  Back of stone is not polished.
