  • A deep-blue metamorphic rock used as a semi precious stone that has been prized since antiquity for its intense color.
  • The most important mineral component is lazurite, a blue feldspathoid silicate mineral.  Most lapis lazuli also contains calcite (white), sodalite (blue), and pyrite (metallic yellow).
  • Lapis Lazuli has been mined since the Neolithic age.  Used in ancient Mesopotamia and was a favorite stone among the Egyptians.
  • The stone is 1 5/8 inch x 3/4 inch.  The crown depth is 3/8 inch. 
  • Cabochon is hand-cut and polished.  Back of stone is not polished.
