A deep-blue metamorphic rock used as a semi precious stone that has been prized since antiquity for its intense color.

The most important mineral component is lazurite, a blue feldspathoid silicate mineral. Most lapis lazuli also contains calcite (white), sodalite (blue), and pyrite (metallic yellow).

Lapis Lazuli has been mined since the Neolithic age. Used in ancient Mesopotamia and was a favorite stone among the Egyptians.

The stone is 1 5/8 inch x 3/4 inch. The crown depth is 3/8 inch.

Cabochon is hand-cut and polished. Back of stone is not polished.
